A conflict is a struggle between two forces. In the book GONE there are several conflicts. One example is Coates Academy vs. Sam and his friends. This is an example of character vs. society which makes it an external conflict. I can predict that this conflict will be resolved when Coates Academy will persuade the townies to join them and leave Sam alone.
