Defying the Capitol

In the book Catching Fire the characters displayed many acts of defiance. Within this article you will learn how many characters displayed rebelliousness, and why they were considered defiant. Defiant is when someone goes against authority. Here are some examples.
Katniss displayed many acts of defiance through out the story. For example, Katniss kissed her hand and held up a symbol, this is  an act of defiance because it caused an uprising within district eight. Katniss also displayed defiance within the arena. The capitol people stated that 2 tributes could win if their from the same district, but after Katniss and Peeta were the last remaining tributes they stated that only 1 tribute could win. Katniss did not take kind to this. In reaction Katniss pulled deadly berries from her pocket and attempted to kill Peeta and herself so that the capitol would get no tribute. This is rebellious because it caused uprisings.
The tributes also were defiant. The tributes held hands to present a united front. This is rebellious because they are banding together. In there interviews they talked about how President Snow is a jerk. This is rebellious because it contributes to the uprisings by turning districts against the capitol.
Peeta offered money to the districts as a act of defiance. This is defiant because after that act o one wanted him to enter the arena. Peeta also lied about Katniss being pregnant. This is rebellious because it starts uprisings.
Cinna pinned and turned Katniss into a mockingjay. This is rebellious because the symbol was basically in control of the districts . Katniss practically is at fault because she turned Cinna against the capitol.
Peetas act of defiance towards the capitol was the most defiant. This is the most defiant because it started an uprising between all of the districts and the capitol.
