Describe how Gale's attitude about running away with Katniss
changes over time. Explain how this change in point of view effects the mood in
the story. Cite text evidence to support your response.
At first Gale is all up for running away with Katniss, but as the conversation continues he starts to question his choice, to now where he doesn't want to go. This effect changes Gale's mood. He gets very angry when he realizes that Katniss has to bring Peeta and Haymitch. The text shows " Haymitch? Gale abandons the chestnuts. you're not asking him to come with us? I have to Gale. I can't leave him and Peeta because they'd -- his scowl cuts me off." This shows that Gale is irritated with her and her victory, her money, her "love" with Peeta, everything. He just wants it to be them his family and hers. Not her husband and her mentor.
