The first stage of plot is the exposition. The exposition introduces the characters and setting. It also reveals a possible conflict. In the exposition of Catching Fire, Katniss has returned to District 12 and she is not getting along with Peeta or Haymitch. President Snow also visits Katniss and threatens her and her family.
The second stage is the rising action. The rising action develops the conflict or struggle. Int the rising action of Catching Fire, Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch find out that they have to go back into the arena for the Quarter Quell. In the arena Katniss and Peeta already form alliances with Beetee, Wiress, and Johanna Mason.
The third stage is the climax. The climax is the stage of greatest interest. In the climax of Catching Fire, Johanna Mason knocked Katniss out, cuts out her tracker than runs from the Careers. Katniss then gets up and wraps the coil around her arrow and shoots it into the force field. The force field then blows up and the Capital and District 12 lost power.
The forth stage is the falling action. The falling action shows how the conflict is resolved. In the falling action of Catching Fire, Katniss is on a Hovercraft heading to District 13. She finds out that Peeta has been captured by the Capitol because of what she did.
The fifth and final stage of plot is the resolution. The resolution reveals the story's final outcome. It also ties up loose ends. In the resolution of Catching Fire, Katniss finds out from Gale that District 12 no longer exists. After she finds out she cry's but then she immediately turns from sadness into outraged. She is hungry for revenge.
