Catching Fire: Defying the Capitol

An act of defiance is when someone acts against authority. In the book Catching Fire, we see many acts of defiance against the capitol. Katniss hung a dummy in her private session and painted Seneca Crane's name on it. This is considered defiant because the Gamemakers reacted in a bad way. Peeta drew a picture of Rue in his private session . This is considered defiant because he tried to make the Gamemakers feel guilty for killing her in the Seventy-Fourth Hunger Games. The Tributes held hands in unity. This is defiant because they are supposed to be against each other. In their interviews, they talk about President Snow not caring and how its his fault this is happening. This is an attempt to get people to rebel. Cinna altered Katniss' dress so that when she spun, the dress would eventually turn into a mockingjay dress. This is rebellious because the mockingjay is a symbol of rebellion in the districts.  In conclusion, I believe that Cinna's act was the most defiant since he was beat senseless by Peacekeepers which probably end up killing him.
