Catching Fire: Defying the Capitol

                                                     Catching Fire: Defying the Capitol

In the book “Catching Fire”, Katniss and Peeta along with other characters, showed many acts of rebellion. An act of rebellion is something that defies some form of authority.
Katniss for example, tied a hangman’s noose onto a dummy and wrote Sinnica Cranes name on the dummy in her private session. This act of rebellion was very rebellious because she isn’t supposed to even know about Sinnica’s death.
Peeta in the other hand, painted in his private session. He painted Rue in the scene where she was dead and surrounded by flowers, This is very defiant because it was already very defiant and risky when Katniss did it and it showed that Peeta was with Katniss in the whole rebellion.
It wasn’t only Katniss and Peeta that defied the capitol though. The tributes were in it too. Their act of rebellion was when they held hands and stood in unity. This is very rebellious because they are all supposed to be against each other and ready to kill each other as well. In their interviews they also tried to make the capitol see that president Snow doesn’t care and make them join the rebellion.
Finally, Cinna. Cinna changed Katniss’s wedding gown from Pearly white to a dress that changed into a black gown with wings that resembled a mocking jay when she twirled in it. The mocking jay is a symbol of rebellion in the districts and a symbol of love in the capitol so its like a double wammy.

I feel that Cinna’s act of defiance was the most rebellious. I feel this because his act was more bigger and spontaneous because not even Katniss knew about the dress. It was also seen in front of the whole capitol and he risked his life.
